Julia Firestone believes in the power of stories to connect people and inspire positive change in the global education field. As director of operations with Impact Network, Julia works with an international team to develop, implement, and monitor scalable programs, managing 10 schools with over 2,000 recipients of services. She initially served as one of the organization’s first interns in Zambia, supporting the roll out of technology across schools, before joining the executive team in the New York office. Through her work with Impact Network and in her previous role as a program assistant at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, Julia has designed and led professional trainings for educators and public health cadres in international settings. She has worked, conducted research, or traveled in nine African countries across East, West, and Southern Africa and most recently conducted a participatory photography project with teachers in Zambia for her master’s thesis. Julia has a master’s degree in International Educational Development from Teachers College of Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College.
