Technology is accelerating the rate of which we’re redefining the way we interact with each other. Within a couple of years, we’re going to be flying man home to the moon, powering up buildings through kinetic energy, and redefining the way we create impact through new and innovative solutions. While we are years before we’ll see life depicted as the sci-fi films, we have moved miles in the way we can empower others to create impact. Here are just a few apps that are redefining the way we create impact.

01 | Bstow
In hopes of breaking traditional methods for donating to nonprofits, Bstow is changing the landscape by paving the way for a new and exciting way to engage with various nonprofits. Through this app, donating to a charity has never been as simple; you simply create an account to donate your spare change to your choice of over 1.5 million nonprofits.

02 | Charity:miles
Walk your Dog, grab your coffee, or go for a run/bike. Charity:Miles is an app that enables its users to raise money for charities for every mile you move (via brand workout sponsors). As you walk, run or bike, the app will measure your distance and you will earn money for your charity: 10¢ per mile for bikers; 25¢ per mile for walkers and runners, all up to their initial $1,000,000 corporate sponsorship pool.

03 | DEED
Whether you’re interested in donating your time to causes such as environment, education, youth development or even animal care—DEED is trying to make it easy to volunteer and give back to your community through a variety of fun and interactive ways. Volunteering should never be as tedious as applying to a job.

04 | My Life as a Refugee
Every minute, eight people are forced to flee war, persecution or terror. My Life as a Refugee allows users to step into the shoes of refugees as they’re forced to take life-changing decisions as they flee war, persecution or terror to survive and safely reach their loved ones/restart their life.

05 | Stand4
Stand4 is an app that empowers the user to see their direct impact on any stance they take on one or many causes. From taking pictures to answering questions, each stand activates a monetary donation from corporate sponsors giving users the ability to immediately see the impact, on any level.

06 | Share the Meal
If you take a look at the numbers, there are 795 million undernourished people in the world today. That means one in nine people do not get enough food to lead an active and healthy life. Share the meal initially started as an initiative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to reinvent how we fight hunger.

07 | SPENT
With only $1000 left in your checkings account, the goal of this game is to achieve financial stability. The user is forced to step into the shoes of millions who live in poverty and homelessness and who are required to make certain life decisions, for example What job do you take? How far from the workplace do you list? Do you choose to get health insurance, etc.). What decisions would you make and can you survive till the end of the month?

08 | Gone for Good
Clothing donations don’t always go to a good cause and can often end up in a landfill. Aiming to re-channel a small percentage of saleable clothing and other items that end up in a landfill, Gone for Good allows users to donate their goods by pairing it up with charities that are in need of those goods.

These are just a few of the apps we were able to find that are creating a ripple effect. What apps are you currently using?
