Editorial 
Melanie is an English Major at Hunter College and works at a hospital for Special Surgery on the Upper East Side. When she is not sifting through books or helping patients make appointments, she can be found exploring New York City with friends or in a dance studio getting lost within the music. Melanie looks forward to traveling the world and finding herself in this crazy journey we call life.

Favorite Place in the World and Why
Although I am in the process of beginning to explore the rest of the world, one of my favorite places will be always be Puerto Rico. Considering I have my dad’s side of the family there, Puerto Rico is the perfect balance of paradise, culture, and love. It is an ideal place to slow down for a few days and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Besides the dance studio and home, it is my go-to comfort zone.

Favorite Charity and Why
The Children’s Aid Society's goal is to help children in poverty succeed and thrive through offering services such as adoption counseling, after school programs, financial assistance, and everything in between. They put kids and teenagers on the right path through introduction to the arts, giving them love and guidance and most importantly giving them all the tools to succeed. Growing up in East Harlem, I was enrolled in the Children's Aid Society for a few years and it provided me with amazing summers, and amazing community and kept kids on the right path.

Why Join Conscious
Deciding to work with this magazine for its fall release has been one of the most amazing opportunities. Conscious does an awesome job  balancing raising awareness about the world we live in and awareness about ourselves. Today, we can easily forget about the beauty of life being wrapped up in our responsibilities. Conscious reminds us about the importance of community through style, culture, and people all over the world which ultimately points we all have a story to tell. Through telling our stories about people and the world, we want to connect and remind individuals life is too precious to let it slip through our fingers therefore let’s inspire!

Editorial 
Michaela Schickel is a design and digital media enthusiast who is continually inspired by innovative solutions to world issues. Michaela spent four years on the east coast of Scotland and in Barcelona absorbing international style and design. One chilly November in Scotland, Michaela traversed across Loch Lochy, Oich and Ness with a team of adventurers, canoeing 96 kilometers in under three days – all to support UNICEF, a charity with UK headquarters that advocates for children’s rights. Michaela graduated from the University of St Andrews (BS Biology) in 2013 with a dissertation focus on urban agriculture and food security in a rapidly urbanizing world. She currently resides in Ithaca, New York.

Favorite Place in the World and Why
I lived in Barcelona for six months and would move there tomorrow if I could. To be perpetually inspired by Gaudí… easy choice.

Favorite Charity and Why
I first heard about Mali Nyeta from its founder Madame Bintou Sissoko and US Project Director Jinny St Goar. I couldn’t find two more passionate women. They’re spearheading an effort to bring education to Mali’s children despite the violence that has stricken the country in the past year. The mission and advocacy of Mali Nyeta couldn't come at a more crucial time. By working and collaborating directly with the communities they support, Mali Nyeta has built schools in the villages of Djangoula in West Mali bringing education to over 150 children.

Victória Oliveira, living in Brazil,  has worked for influential brands, blogs and online magazines like Dormify, Potterish, Rock Revolt Magazine, Inspiring Women Magazine and now, Conscious Magazine. She is interested in everything art-related and everything that can promote an evolution in the human conscience and the planetary progress.

Favorite Charity & Why
She's the First. I think it's inspiring the idea of empowering girls in developing countries around the world by giving them an education.
