As we round up 2014, we’re going to break from Christmas to New Years to spend quality time with family and get a few things ready for the New Year. We cannot express enough how grateful we are for this past year. We’re a super small team wearing lots of hats, and we’re honestly so proud of what we’ve accomplished in 2014. Like we mentioned in our Looking Ahead to 2015 Letter to the Community, we’re so thankful to you for being our supporter. Because of your commitment and support, we are in the position to continue to grow and create an even larger global impact in the coming year.

Create the things you wish existed. For all of us at Conscious Magazine, we simply saw a gap in media, and so we wanted to create a new kind of media to change the conversation and focus on stories that matter by highlighting people and organizations who work above and beyond to make a difference in the world. With every story we tell, our hope is to inspire, to educate, and to drive action.

If you believe in the power of positive media and want more solutions journalism, then we ask that you help us move into 2015 stronger than ever. Consider placing an early order for Issue 03 with our 2014 pre-order special. We’re already working on this next issue, and it’s going to be amazing.

But for now, join us in celebrating 2014 with our 15 greatest year-end highlights. Thank you to everyone for being such an amazing gift to Conscious Magazine.

01 | Editorial Collaborators
We launched a new program at Conscious Magazine where we partnered with over 30 editorial collaborators, who we found to be influencers and leaders in their space. Through their knowledge and expertise, we were able to address new topics such as: urban innovation, fair trade, design sustainability, international development, education in Africa and Asia, sustainable fashion and more.

We’re beyond grateful for our early adopters: Wilkinson Mazzeo, Jessica Minhas, One Year Road Trip, Tumml, DesignGood, and EcoCult. See the full list here. Want to join us in 2015? Learn how to become an Editorial Collaborator here.

02 | Collaborations, Features, and More
A core part of Conscious Magazine is collaboration. By teaming up with like-minded brands and organizations through social campaigns, creative campaigns, events, and editorial columns, we were able to share powerful stories, spread awareness of important issues, and bring attention to those that are representing conscious culture. 03 | Conscious x California
We left New York City for one week to visit California to explore the conscious culture there and hang out with the social good community. We met up with some of our favorites, including SevenlyKrochet Kids intl.31 BitsWhatever It Takes, and even Kelly Allison from Chicago joined us to help with photos for Conscious LA. We hosted a Conscious LA Meetup at Zinque in Venice Beach. We held a conscious lifestyle photoshoot with our collaborative partners – Restylr, Darling Magazine, Bolt Barbers, Pure Beauty Project, Two B Events, and more! It was a great trip, and feel free to scope out behind the scenes photos here.

04 | Issue 02 Released: Conscious LA
With the help of a great collaborative team, we produced our second print issue, Conscious LA, to unveil the conscious culture, innovative ideas, and changemakers in this great city. We teamed up with amazing partners and producers from HUB LA, Eric Krauss, Will Coles, and more. Meet the team here.

05 | Building Community from NY to LA
With the release of Conscious LA, we had to celebrate this! So, we hosted two release parties – one in NYC and the other in LA. We’re so grateful to our partners, STORY and HUB LA, for hosting us in their space. NYC recap here / LA recap here.

06 | Conscious Around The World
We distributed our magazine throughout the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Malaysia, and beyond.

07 | Conscious Print in Stores!
Conscious Magazine became available in stores from Manhattan, Brooklyn, San Diego, Los Angeles, Oakland, Venice Beach, Fullerton, Hong Kong, Switzerland, and more. Want to become a retail partner? Send us a note here.

08 | Magazine Donations
We’ve given away hundreds of magazines to non-profit groups, such as Fordham’s Women in Business Conference, Asian Hope, Water Collective, Rocking the Boat, and this month a few magazines are off to The Trade, a beauty School in Cambodia.

09 | First-Ever Conscious Pop Up Shop
In April, we hosted a 2-day Pop-up shop in the LES with MiLES to showcase conscious brands from all over the world. We invited our community to come out and shop, and even met new friends who popped in from the neighborhood. Photo gallery here.

10 | Speaking Engagements
Slowly, but surely, we’re taking the Conscious story on the road by spreading the word at various events and companies:
Spoke to female executives at BNY Mellon in Pittsburgh on how to create impact with social media, joined fellow speakers from charity: water and DoSomething.org to share about moral leadership to a room of young global leaders at the UN  International Youth Leaders Assembly, and we met with students from Colgate University to talk about Social Entrepreneurship.

11 | Conferences
In order to continue expanding our knowledge about local to global problems, solutions, and innovative ideas, we attended some of the most exciting conferences as media partners:
– Clinton Global Initiative
– Social Innovation Summit
– The Feast

12 | Conscious Conversations
To engage readers we moved some of our stories to real-time conversations by hosting tweetups called #ConsciousConvo. Through these online events, we were able to address topics such as: The Glass Ceiling, Eating Disorders, to Why We Do things, etc.

13 | Conscious on Instagram
For this year, we took time to get to know the Instagram community, which gave us the chance to meet fellow creatives, storytellers, photographers and more. We even tripled our reach in a matter of months thanks to our community’s endless support and participation. We love to hear from you. Keep tagging, commenting and sharing your photos with us via the #consciousculture tag.

14 | Team of Writers Delivering Top Articles of the Year
Our top articles of this year all centered around inspirational music. We love it! Top 3 include:
Inspirational Songs 2013
Molly Kate Kestner
Lover of the Light
We would not be able to produce stories without the help of our team writers: Kristen Kumpf, Cara Murphy, Kashmiri Schmookler, Brianna Plaza, Dustin Pope, Estefani Burgos, Laci Texter, Tiffany Schoolfield, and Tina Zapata.

15 | Conscious Daily
You like little nuggets of inspiration and we love giving them to you. The Conscious Daily was one of our biggest hits this year. These daily quotes that inspire and challenge us to think, reflect and act were the most shared on social media reaching and encouraging hundreds of thousands of people around the world. (Scope it out on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

Between all of our readers, online presence, 1,000+ editorial partners, photographers, writers and more, how many people have we reached in 2014? At least 2 Million. We’re really happy, and look forward to continuing our adventure in 2015!

Live Conscious,
Team C.
